YESTERDAY: HS/MS did a Homecoming Activity at lunch called the “Sweetheart Challenge.” With their class, students had to move a sweetheart candy from one side of the table to the other by blowing air through a straw. We’re not sure who won, not all boxes of candy were equal. Students still had fun with it!!

Just a reminder that NEW hats, gloves and scarves, as well as gently used coats have been placed by the blessing box at the old bank in Dexter. On Monday, February 4th, all these items will be removed from this location and dispersed throughout the county to those in need.

6th grade students have been geologists studying the types of rock found locally, (limestone, sandstone and shale) and how that relates to finding oil and natural gas in Kansas and Oklahoma. They learned that the Permian Sea was what deposited the fossils here millions of years ago creating fossil fuels, and they have done numerous experiments on permeability and porosity to see which type of rock would hold oil the best.

Due to the weather, tonights Junior High game at Flint Hills will not be played this evening. We will make up the game if both schools can find a day before the start of the Junior High Tournament.

Before we can fly our drones, the STEAM teams have been learning about and practicing principles of flight: lift, thrust, and drag. Winners of the initial flight challenge were Kaleb and Cadie, who created the most economical aircraft, capable of going the greatest distance, with the heaviest payload.
For the rotor challenge, testing which rotor design could stay aloft longest, the winners were Timber and Cale.
Stay tuned for videos of our drone flights!

As can be seen, due to the wind Monday, the Giving Tree items were unable to be hung from the trees. We will try again Tuesday. Thank you for your understanding!
